How does heat transmit?

Putting something in the microwave seems to nuke it in seconds, but when i put something in the freezer it takes forever to cool it down... i would like someone intellegent to explain the power differences between this, and why we dont have super chillers the same as making things cold as we do hot.. why is it harder to cool things down than heat them up?
